Thanks a lot to the organiser of the festival "Rock das Ding"

Since 2016 the organiser of the festival Rock das Ding in Lower Saxony supports the Wacken Foundation and collects donations for our foundation. As a thank you for the engagement the Wacken Foundation puts a W:O:A 2017 ticket at his diposal. It will be raffled amongst all purchasers of a Rock das Ding ticket. We wish you a successful festival 2017 and we are particularly pleased that also the supported band Crossplane are playing at your festival.

HOBBY caravan in W:O:A-Look changed hands

Last Friday the successful bidders of the Hobby caravan Ivonne and Tom Konradt came to Wacken and picked up the trailer. As Yvonne loves to travel with caravans and Tom is a regular guest at the W:O:A, both decided together to spontaneously bid for the trailer and with € 17,799.00 they placed the best bid of this auction.


We wish both of them a great time with the caravan and all the best!

THANK YOU Trailer Park Sex!

Since 3 years the supported band Trailer Park Sex is present in the W:O:Arts tent at the Wacken Open Air. They show how to design your own t-shirts with screen printing. Last Friday they visited us in Wacken and brought us € 1.000 donation from their t-shirts sales at the W:O:A 2016. Really great! Thanks a lot guys and Lea (she unfortunately couldn't join on Friday). We are already looking forward to the next yeart with you!

Auction of the HOBBY caravan in W:O:A look was successful

The 10-days lasting auction of the caravan Hobby De Luxe Edition 440 SF in W:O:A outfit sponsored by Hobby Wohnwagenwerk ended very successful – not only for us but also for the highest bidders. On 2nd December 2016 the stylish caravan in metal design will change hands and find its new home in the Ruhr area at Yvonne and Tom Konradt. As Yvonne loves to travel with caravans and Tom is a regular guest at the W:O:A, both decided together to spontaneously bid for the trailer and with € 17,799.00 they placed the best bid of this auction. All the income will be used to support hard rock and heavy metal musicians.

 

A huge thanks goes to Hobby for making this auction possible. And of course our congratulation goes to Yvonne and Tom. We wish you much pleasure and a great time with this unique caravan.

AUCTION: Hobby Caravan in W:O:A-Look

This extremely cool Hobby De Luxe Edition 440 SF with W:O:A outfit has been put at our disposal after the Wacken : Open : Air by Hobby-Wohnwagenwerk. Now it will be auctioned on eBay. The auction will be online for 10 days from Thursday, 11th November 2016 at 6.11 pm until Sunday, 20th November 2016. The income of the auction will as usual be used by the Wacken Foundation to support bands and artist from the hard rock and heavy metal scene. 

The caravan with its sporty design offers a young atmosphere with light furniture fronts, decent red accents and atmospheric light. This travel caravan is extremely compact and maneuvarable but perfectly equipped and comfortable at the same time. Therefore it is exactly the right type to go on tour with you or to visit festivals, concerts, cities or remote camping sites.

The outfit in W:O:A style with distinctive Wacken skull on black background makes this caravan absolutely unique. Additionally the exterior of the Hobby 440 SF is decorated with a collage of popular metal musicians who played at the W:O:A in the last years. Prominent metal heads perpetuated themselves inside the caravan, more precisely on the bathroom door. There are original signatures from Blind Guardian, Heaven Shall Burn, Beyond the Black and Equilibrium.

AUCTION: Hawthorne Westerngitarre signed by Blaas of Glory

After  the W:O:A 2016 this Hawthorne western guitar (model: HD 220 incl. ADD String) has been signed by Blaas of Glory and made available to us. The special thing is the additional ADD string. The guitar will now be auctioned in favour of the Wacken Foundation. The auction starts on Sunday, 30th October 2016 at 6:03 pm and will be online for one week. Exhibition: ROCK FOSSILS – Yes, it is Love!

At 11th November the exhibition "Rock Fossils –  Yes, it is Love!" will be opened in the museum of natural history in Chemnitz. The exhibition will also accommodate the fossil “Wacken-Ichthyo” which was named after the Wacken Open Air.

 

The opening event contains everything what the metal heart desires: the Swedish heavy metal band WOLF will play an exclusive concert. As the gibt sich mit einem Exklusivkonzert die Ehre. The stage for the band is nothing less than the well-known petrified forest in the Tietz. Last but not least there will be available a special Stonewood-Beer and a Rock-Fossil t-shirt designed by Motörhead-Logo-Designer Joe Petagno. In line with the theme the organisers support the Wacken Foundation by presenting our informatipon material on site. We would like to say thank you for the support and we wish a great kick-off of the exhibition which takes place from 12th November 2016 to18th April 2017.

Wacken Experience

Last year we presented you 8 potential concepts of the »Wacken Experience«. These concepts were created by a study course for Spatial Strategies in the summer term of 2015 of the Muthesius University of Art in Kiel, Germany. Two of those concepts were deselected and now there still 6 to vote for. Now it’s your term to come around in the Wacken Foundation camp and vote for your favourite concept of the »Wacken Experience«. Via this way you can decide which concept should win the Public’s Choice Award!

THE PIT

...called Sven Ellerbrocks long-term-project in which he presents photography directly out of the moshpits from concerts of the past Wacken Open Air Festival’s. Since 2008 Sven Ellerbrock participates the W:O:A with his camera, this year he presents his results of the project “The Pit” in our Wacken Foundation Camp. The photo book got 40 pages with black/white photos on high quality paper, the book will be offered for €10.00 per piece and the income goes into the Wacken Foundation to 100%.

WACKEN MUSIC CAMP 2016

"Make your own music at the Wacken Open Air Festivalground", that's the motto of the Wacken Music Camp.

 

 

One week after the famous Metal-festival Wacken Open Air has ended a music camp for young musician starts at the same area.
The participants will be supported by metal and rock musicians as well as some producers from the scene. At the end of the week everyone will be presenting their new written music at a concert in Wacken.

WACKEN FOUNDATION – BRANDED HOBBY VANTANA WILL BE DISPLAYED AT THE WACKEN FOUNDATION CAMP.

Normally they work with wood and other materials, which play an important role when it comes to the production of caravans and camper vans. They learn how to establish a connection between different components.

This time, the wood technicians of the hobby-training workshop switched from drill, saw and file to a spray can, in order to give their Hobby Vantana a new and extraordinary look. The panel van will be presented in a striking Wacken-design and can be admired at the Wacken Open Air between 4th and 8th August, 2016 (at the Wacken Foundation Camp).

In collaboration with the renowned graffiti-artist Réne Turrek, who gave tips and tricks, the trainees shaped the brand new Vantana-exterior design in the hobby-training workshop for wood technicians. But also the interior design is in no way inferior to the exterior design. The “Saloon” in the rear is equipped with a super-sound-system, a television and self-made E-guitar by the trainees – a room where one can really relax and hang out. With the interior construction the trainees of the hobby-training workshop gave proof of their skills in challenging joineries. After the presence at the Wacken Open Air there will be even more activities with the Vantana. Then, the Vantana will go on tour for being used as info-van for promotion of wood technicians. It stops at schools, fairs and other events.

Few weeks after the festival there will be an eBay-auction of another caravan designed by Réne Turrek in an Heavy-Metal-look of the hobby-model-range De Luxe Edition. The proceeds of the auction will go to the Wacken Foundation in order to support young bands and artists in the Heavy-Metal-scene. We will provide you with more information as soon as the auction begins.

STARCOOKING AT FOUNDATION CAMP

 

 

The registration period for our Starcooking sessions starts. From Wednesday, 06th July 2015 at 3 pm to Wednesday, 13th June at 3 pm you can bid for a participation place for the cooking course with Tim from Endstille, Kobi from Orphaned Land or Knobel from 5th Avenue. All revenues go to the Wacken Foundation.

 

In order to participate in the Star-Cooking course it is necessary, that you own a valid W:O:A 2016 ticket.

 

Timm from Endstille will prepare a vegetarian dish with five of you on Friday, 05th August at 1 pm.

 

Kobi from Orphaned Land will prepare oriental dish with five of you on Friday, 05th August at 4 pm. All band members taking a part. 

 

And Knobel from 5th Avenue planned to cook the bands favorite dish during their session on Saturday 06th August at 5pm.

 

For joining the cooking course you have to do the following:


- Send an e-mail in the time period above with your bid (in €), your prefered event, your name and the 5-digit number of your W:O:A ticket to starcooking@wacken.com.

- Every 48 hours (Friday, Sunday, Tuesday) always 10am, we will inform those people who are not anymore under the top 5 highest bidder. We accept new bids until the end of the auction on Wednesday 6pm.

-The five highest bidders will receive a confirmation mail with the bank details from the Wacken Foundation. You get one week to transfer the money. If there is no receipt of money within one week, the next highest bidder gets the chance.

WACKEN WALL and LOVE LOCKS

You can find the Wacken Wall container in the Wacken Foundation Camp. Metalheadz can be a part of the Wacken Wall with an engraving of their choice on a brick. A part from the disposal of each brick will be donated to the Wacken Foundation to support hard rock – and heavy metal bands.

 

A rebuild black sea container will be the new home of the “Wall”! The original red bricks are changed with black bricks. With a precious silver label the bricks will be fixed on the inside of the sea container. In that way you will get immortalized at the wall on the Holy Ground. Unfortunately we are not able to sell the Wacken Wall bricks at the moment because of changes in the concept. Any further information will follow soon.

 

Additionally, there is the possibility to attach Love Locks at the sea container. You can buy them at the LASERmobil booth near the container. A WOA logo of your choice plus an individual engraving will be stamped on the lock on site. The price of your individual engraved lock is € 25. All the generated profit will be donated to Wacken Foundation to support young hard rock- and heavy metal bands.

 

 

The location of the Wacken Wall and the Love Locks is Position #20 in the Foundation Camp.

Last week, we went “Into the Pott” to the Dong Open Air in Neukirchen-Vly. With our fully equipped Wacken-Foundation-Bus and a caravan, we arrived on the festival on Wednesday evening and built up our tents in the infield.

 

On the first day some metal fans came around and tried their luck on our wheel of fortune, all the income goes as a donation straight into the Wacken Foundation.

 

Luckily we managed it to get bands like TESTAMENT, EQUILIBRIUM, HACKNEYED, HAGGARD and FLEHGOD APOCALYPSE to do their signing sessions at our Wacken Foundation stand. We reached a big amount of people and we are very thankful for that spontaneous rush of people who were very interested in the work of the Wacken Foundation.

 

Some bands like Bloodbath, Craving, Kryptos and Raven Woods came for a chat and left some merchandise at our stand. We sold their stuff and attracted a lot people coming to our Wacken Foundation tent. A percentage of the profit from the sold merchandise went into the foundation.

 

There were also some bands playing on the Dong Open Air which we as a foundation already supported. Bands like Craving, Jesus Chrüsler Supercar, Harpyie, Kadavrik and Suidakra came to our camp after their show and had some meet and greets with their fans.

 

In total we had an income of € 1,600.00 and want to thank all the donators and bands we met.

 

An extra thanks goes to our volunteers Ina, Lukas from Divide, Sascha from Bleed Cologne and Phil from Maze Of Lies who worked with a maximum of motivation over the whole “weekend”.

METAL 4 NATURE – SAVE YOUR HOLY LAND

This year we are caring about the reduction of the pollution during the Wacken Open Air again. According to the motto “Metal 4 Nature” different projects will be implemented to protect the nature.

 

In your Full:Metal:Bag there is a trash bag and our “Trash-Mobiles” (vehicles) will patrol on the campsite to gather your trash bags and they will also supply you with new ones. Should there be no “Trash-Mobile” around, you can bring your trash bags to the trash stations at the shower camps S1-S5.

 

The voluntary workers of the Wacken Foundation will drive around on the campsite with cargo trikes. Their goal is to collect your deposit. Your PET-bottles and cans are what they are looking for. All this is for good causes, since 100 per cent of the income will go into the Wacken Foundation.

 

In order to minimize injury risk, glass bottles are forbidden on the whole festival site! But there is a service being offered where you can decant your glass bottle content into a fancy PET-bottle. This can be done at the supermarkets on the visitor road.

 

An overdimensional beer can again be visited in the Wacken Foundation Camp (Pos. # 20). It is the sleeping can – a prototype which soon could be your sleeping booth on festivals. The can has a bedroom and a lounge and could be equipped with solar battery panels, which provides you with light and power, so you can be fully independent from the power supply.

 

So do your little part to help us protecting the environment!

We got some organisations, partners and companies from the previous years but we also got a hand full of new stuff which we would like to present you. Underneath you will find a list with which you get a quick overview of everything you can find and what we offer in the Foundation camp. Info-Point

The core of the Foundation Camp will be our information point. Visitors get informed about the work of the foundation and what it stands for. Additionally, you can buy lighter, pens and other stuff with a Wacken Foundation branding.

Try your luck on our W:O:A goal scoring wall and get nice presents for a small fee. Directly next to it, you will find our famous Wheel of Fortune, each spin guarantees one prize.

 

 

 

 

Polesitting

Participants who manage it to sit 6 hours on a pole, receive a W:O:A VIP-Ticket-Upgrade. Each pole is sponsored by a company (e.g. Schecter and Marshall) which is paying an amount of money to the foundation for each hour the person is sitting on the pole. 

 

 

 

 

Deposit Collecting Campaign

Volunteers of the foundation will collect cups, cans and PET-Bottles from the festival area. The money which will be generated through the deposit will flow directly into the foundations account.

W:O*ART CALENDER 2017 FROM JENS RUSCH

In cooperation with Frank Steinmetz and the author Gerd Scherm created Jens Rusch a artistic and lyrical outstanding W:O*Art Calender for 2017. The topic of the calendar, which will be published this year, are the Wasteland Warriors. A group of post apocalyptical artists and role-players drawn by Jens Rusch and represented in the new W:O*Art Calender.

 

 

Furthermore, the calendar is not just looking nice €7 of each sold the per piece is going straight into the Wacken Foundation.

FIRE AND FLAME COCKING - BARBECUE SEMINAR FOR METALHEADS

Dear metalheads,

Again this year we want you provide with some good food. You have the chance to learn some barbecue skills together with Daniel, Vivien Fenske and their crewteam of the Kochschule Pinneberg will leave your friends at your campground speechless.

The seminar is called “Fire and Flame”.

All the needed equipement and tools as well as the ingredients for the cooking will be sponsored and provided by “Kate Fenske”. There will be two seminars a day from the 3rd of august to the 6th of August 2016. The courses start at 11 am and 2 pm.

Even vegetarians can join, we have also some vegetarian barbecue recipes to try out. And as always there will be a lot of beer.

The participation fee will be 20€ and will go directly toward the Wacken Foundation to support young metal bands.

Be fast and get yourself one of the popular seminar slots if you want our cooks Lars Ginsberg (Agentur für Genuss) and Stefan Boriss (formerly Running Wild)  to teach you the right way of barbecuing. As in every year there are only 5 paricipants per seminar allowed.

REGISTRATION FOR POLESITTING 2016

Do you want to get a place on one of the poles of the popular pole-sitting contest at the 27th W:O:A? From now on you can register for it!

 

Just write an email to polesitting2016@wacken.com. Please mention your complete name, your W:O:A ticket number, as well as time and day you would like to join the contest. We try to satisfy your wishes as good as we can. The pole-sitting times will be from Wednesday, 3rd August to Saturday, 6th August from 10:00 h – 16:00 h and 16:30 h – 22:30 h. We have 32 participation places and the first 32 emails will be taken into account for registration.

 


Rules:


You have to sustain for 6 hours on one of the poles to win a VIP upgrade. Except for 10 minutes every 2 hours, the seat may not be left. You can enjoy the festival in a height of 2.5 meters, lean back and let your eyes wander over the festival, while the bands are playing on the Black, True and Party stage.

Donations:


Different companies will take over sponsorships for the poles. For every hour you sustain on the pole they are donating € 10 to the Wacken Foundation. At the festival you are invited to visit the Wacken Foundation Camp in direct proximity to the pole-sitting. Here you can take part in the activities or as an artist you can inform yourself about the Wacken Foundation and how they could support you.  

 

We will reserve one pole for people who would like to take a picture or shortly enjoy the view. For a little donation you can climb one of the poles for 10 minutes! (for this you do not need to register, just come along!)

KAI HANSEN PROMOTES WACKEN FOUNDATION WITH HIS SOLO DEBUT AND COMES TO WACKEN!

KAI HANSEN, earMUSIC and WACKEN Foundation are happy to announce the release of "XXX", the first "solo project" album by Kai Hansen, one of the most influential guitarists and singers to emerge from Germany during the first part of the 80s. First with ground-breaking band HELLOWEEN (of which Hansen is one of the founding members) and later with GAMMA RAY, one of the bands that contributed to define the genre power metal, bringing it to generation of devoted fans worldwide since its first album.

"XXX" is a magical journey. It is the story of how powerful dreams can be.

Dreams and passions big enough to bring a teenager from Hamburg who is in love with rock music, glam rock and the first heavy metal sounds from the practicing space in his bedroom and rehearsal rooms to the biggest stages in the world practicing, and ending up influencing and sharing the stage with the very same bands he admired in the first place.

Talking about XXX (while in the studio, recording guitars) KAI HANSEN has declared:

“30 years in metal, that’s a damn long time. Over the course of all these years, I never recorded a solo album. It is quite nice and a hell lot of fun to create something without any boundaries and to get a fresh view on music. I am celebrating 30 years of being able to do what I like best... On ‘XXX’ I am reflecting on my roots, where I come from, how it all started for me. I believe you need a certain drive, passion and of course a bit of luck and coincidence to make it in the music world – and of course some financial support. This is where the Wacken Foundation came to my mind. They are helping people, musicians just like me, who want to make it. And I remember having had help myself, from my family, the families from the other band members – and by doing a paper round. So hopefully, with my donation, young musicians are given the same chance that I was given a long time ago, too. And who knows, maybe we all will be playing together at Wacken in 20 years…”

WACKEN FOUNDATION - FESTIVAL - TOUR 2016

6 FESTIVALS - 1236 KM 

The Wacken Foundation Festival Tour goes in its fourth round although we have to limit it down to 6 Festivals due to organizational issues. We will start as always in May at the Rock Hard Festival in Gelsenkirchen, Germany and will be having our booth again at the entrance to the camp grounds. There will also be our fortune wheel where you can win a lot of great prices and you can also load your phones at the loading station provided by THE ELECTRIC HOTEL. There you can charge your phone just by moving the pedals on our W:O:A Cycles. We also have lots of Wacken Merchandise for sale of which 30% of the sales will be going directly to the Wacken Foundation. If we don’t have your size anymore you can always buy it online at the Jag-Merchandise online shop.

FULL METAL MOUNTAIN 2016

The first Full Metal Mountain in Tröpolach – Austria was about to happen and of course the Wacken Foundation was a part of it. We had our booth at a hight of 602 meters above sealevel which was the highest Wacken Foundation booth of all time. The was at the Visitorscenter at the ski area of Nassfeld.

 

Our tombola offered great prices from different sponsores such as Teufel, Jägermeister and Becks. All in all we could collect donations around 1756,50€. Half of the donation was going towards a kindergarden in Tröpolach. We want to thank all Ski metalheads for making this happen.

 

We also want to thank the producers and crew of Full Metal Moutain, It was such a great time and we are happy to see you again next year!

THE WEINMEISTER - SIGNATURE ROMM - W:O:A WACKEN

The Weinmeister Hotel in Mid-Berlin, with her official Wacken signature room, is offering every Metalhead to have a great stay at their Hotel in the capital city of Germany.

THE WACKEN FOUNDATION IS VISITING THE ALPS!

Full Metal Mountain – the hardest and loudest winter vacation summons metal heads from all around the world in the Alps.

We heard the call of the mountain and will also follow it. We are happy to announce that we will have a booth at the Visitor Center where we can host a Tombola.

 

There are several prices you could win: for example tickets for the Wacken Open Air, Elbriot Festival, Reload Festival, Hamburg  Metal Dayz and Wacken Winter Nights. But there is more to win like a Boomster Stereo Bluetooth Radio by Teufel, headphones by Real Z, a Bamster Soundbar or a Jacket and a bag sponsored by Red Bull.

Some prices come right in time for the spring and barbecue season for example a draft beer system by Becks and a Jägermeister grill.

The Wacken Foundation also wants to sponsor some of the prices and so we offer one of our popular beanbags by jag-shop!

RELOAD BANDCONTEST

 

Let it rumble! The Reload Bandcontest is starting at the 16th of April going into its fourth round. Five bands have the chance to battle for a slot at the Reload Festival 2016 where the audience can decide which band rocks the most. There is more information to come but the first application round for the Reload Bandcontest 2016 is starting now.

 

What we need:

 

- a written application where you describe your motivation for participating at the contest

- Links to your homepage and/or Facebook page

- Links to one of your own Songs on Youtube, Soundcloud, Bandcamp or else.

 

Important Info:

There are only bands allowed that are NOT already signed to a label. Attached files (PDFs, MP3s or else) will be ignored. The application deadline is the 13th of March. You will get a  message shortly after, if you are accepted to the contest. We are looking forward to your applications.

PAUL R. GREGORY AND THE LORD OF THE RINGS "ROMANTIC LANDSCAPES”

The artist Paul Gregory has designed this year another T-shirt cover for the Wacken Foundation and currently are exhibited for the first time some of his works of art in Germany.

 

From December 10th 2015 until April 17th 2016 will be an exhibition at the Kunstverein "Talstrasse" e.V. in Halle/Saale.

 

The exhibition features a selection of works of art from diverse Central German museum and contrasts them with paintings by the British artist Paul Raymond Gregory who has been interpreting the writings of JRR Tolkien for over 40 years.

 

Opening hours: Wednesday - Friday, 2pm-7pm, Saturday - Sunday 2pm-6pm

The weather at the Wacken Open Air in 2015 was completely different to the year before. In our camp we could not look very far through the dust in 2014 but this time we changed the “goal scoring” into “goal throwing”, because the mud was too high for the original game. Unexpectedly all of the pole sitting participants sat on their poles even when it rained the whole time. The weather started to get warmer after two days and long queues built up in front of our wheel of fortune. Additionally our deposit collection campaign was a big success even if the volunteers were not able to use the trikes because of the bad ground conditions.

 

Many people were visiting the W:O:Artst tent and participated in the Action Painting from Triebwerk who sold paintings of the years 2014 and 2015 in the tent. Trailer Park Sex were again very busy and printed shirts with screen printing. The Musikschulenverband Schleswig-Holstein provided the music and implemented the Feet of Hell Contest. Sport Tiedje executed a rowing contest – the rowing machine will by the way be auctioned in our favor this year.

 

Through all activities and campaigns at the Wacken Foundation Camp 2015 executed by us and the booth operators plus all the donation cans the booth operators installed at their booths, the Foundation collected over € 15,500. This is a really awesome result.

WACKEN TRIBUTE GUITAR

Today we are starting with the auctions after the Wacken Open Air. Our first item that will be auctioned is an E-Guitar with a handmade, three-dimensional corpus, looking like the Wacken skull. Creator of the extraordinary design is guitar builder Thomas Schultz (Insane Guitars)– the usual guitars do not have the individual character he wanted to create. “I wanted the guitar to have a special form and I’m a big Wacken fan for a long time. So my idea was to make it look like the skull as it is the flagship of Wacken and everybody knows it.”

During the Wacken Open Air we exhibited the guitar at the Artist Village. In this way some artists signed the guitar like the TSO/Savatage members Angus Clark, Jeff Scott Soto and Dave Z, Paul Mazorkiewicz and Pat O’Brien from Cannibal Corpse; The Boss Hoss as well as In Extremo.

Some more highlights of the instrument: the body is made of a one-piece khaya mahagony block, the neck is made of maplewood, provided with a palisades fingerboard and 22 frets. The knobs are made of metal, tailpieces and bridge are chromed. The Guitar has black mechanics and a metal plate with the engraving “Nr. 01 Wacken Edition”. 

The auction takes place on eBay starting Friday, 14th August 2015 at 5:05 pm and lasts one week. The Wacken Foundation uses the income to support bands and artists of the hard rock and heavy metal scene. Here is the link to the auction. Try your luck and place your bid!!

Action Painting 2015 - again a great success

At the Action Painting from AGS/Triebwerk e. V. in the W:O:Arts tent at the Wacken Open Air a lot was goin g on. Many visitors who already allowed their creativity full bent last yeart, came back and painted a ne picture. This year the artworks have also been sold on site - some of them so fast that the artist did not even have the chance to put down his brush before it was sold. In total  € 545 was raised with the pictures for the Wacken Foundation and yesterday the money was handed over to us.

We would like to thank the whole Triebwerk team a lot for this great campaign!!!

Opening Act Wanted! Beyond the Black - Songs of Love and Death-Tour 2015

In cooperation with us Beyond the Black provides opening slot for the tour in autumn – band applications can be handed in until 15th September 2015.

 

It is almost a year ago that Beyond the Black celebrated their live debut at the Wacken Open Air stage. A year in which a young and unknown band became Germanys most successful metal newcomer act. And these were tough 365 days: With Saxon on England tour, release of the debut album that climed immediately to place 12 of the German charts, big gigs in front of a TV audience of millions, four sold out club shows in spring, numerous festival performances at the biggest stages in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and The Netherlands. In late autumn the own headliner tour “Songs of Love and Death –Tour 2015“ with special guest Masterplan will follow. For this tour Beyond the Black is now searching for an opening act in cooperation with us.

 

“It was an incredible year! And we know that this cannot be taken for granted! We worked hard, had many people around us who energetically supported us and opened many doors for us. Now we would like to give another newcomer band a chance with the experiences we made” stated singer Jennifer Haben. So it stands to reason to come together with these people who support young metal talents since years.

 

Therefore the opening slot of their tour should go to a band that will be searched in cooperation with us and be supported for this project. The foundation also played an important role in the success story of Beyond the Black. Music producer Thorsten Broetzmann, who already knows the band for a long time, is a curator of our foundation and recommended the Beyond the Black to the Wacken organizers. They were enthusiastic and shortly afterwards the first performance followed at the Wacken Open Air.

 

“We are right now living our dream, but we did not forget where we are coming from and how hard it is to be heard as a newcomer band. We would be extremely happy if we could help a young band on their way with a slot at our tour” explained guitarist Christopher Hummels.

 

Band applications have to be send to support@beyondtheblack.de until 15th September 2015. Several music samples, video and photo material is necessary. The applicants have to be able to play a program of at least 30 minutes. Also being available for the time period of the tour and legal age are required.

 

The jury, consisting of our board of trustees, the tour promoter and Airforce1Records, the label of Beyond the Black, will announce three finalists during the selection process, who will reach the final vote in public.

The starting signal for the second Wacken Music Camp is given!

Yesterday, the second edition of Wacken Music Camp has started. The Wacken Music Camp is a project promoted by the us to support young musicians and those who are going to be musical active. Youths from whole Germany and the surrounding area at the age of 13 to 18 years create, compose and set their own Metalsong to music. For the first time 10 Swedish participants join the team this year!

The Wacken Music Camp is organized by Kurs 54°N e.V in cooperation with Landesverband der Musikschulen in Schleswig-Holstein e.V.

Instructed by both project leaders Enno Heymann and Helmut Kolzer, the team will again be supported by some renowned coaches: Nibbs Carter of Saxon, Olman Viper (Producer, Audio-Engineer), Thomas Barth (Producer), Lasse Lammert (Killfloor Mechanic Guitarist, Producer), Florian Sommer (Producer, Songwriter, Recording / Mix and FOH Engineer) and Hajo Brockmann (Eventmanager, graphics artist) join forces to give the participants as many as possible insights into the music business.

One week the youths write songs and set their songs to music, create bandlogos and adverts as well as they will learn the basics of eventmanagement.

WACKEN WALL AND LOVE LOCKS

New Location for the Wacken Wall

You can be a part of the Wacken Wall for some years now and buy a brick online at www.wall-of-wacken.de with the engraving of your choice. One brick costs € 69.00 including a Wacken Foundation T-Shirt and certificate plus the shipping. At the costs of € 41.40 you can get a replica stone for your home. € 30 from the disposal of each brick will be donated to the Wacken Foundation to support hard rock – and heavy metal bands. 

With the new concept the Wacken Wall will be directly placed on the festival ground of the Wacken Open Air! A rebuild black sea container will be the new home of the “Wall”! The original red bricks are changed with black bricks. With a precious silver label the bricks will be fixed on the inside of the sea container. In that way you will be able to immortalize at the wall on the Holy Ground when you purchase a brick.

Additionally, there is the possibility to attach Love Locks  at the sea container. You can buy them at the LASERmobil booth near the container. A WOA logo of your choice plus an individual engraving will be stamped on the lock on site. The price of your individual engraved lock is € 25. All the generated profit will be donated to Wacken Foundation to support young hard rock- and heavy metal bands. Here you can order them already now.

METAL 4 NATURE – SAVE YOUR HOLY LAND

This year we are caring about the reduction of the pollution during the Wacken Open Air again. According to the motto “Metal 4 Nature” different projects will be implemented to protect the nature.

 

In your Full:Metal:Bag there is a trash bag and our “Trash-Mobiles” (vehicles) will patrol on the campsite to gather your trash bags and they will also supply you with new ones. Should there be no “Trash-Mobile” around, you can bring your trash bags to the trash stations at the shower camps S1-S5.

 

Our voluntary workers will drive around on the campsite with cargo trikes. Their goal is to collect your deposit. Your PET-bottles and cans are what they are looking for. All this is for good causes, since the income will be split between Viva con Agua and us. We will of course use the money for our non-profit projects. Viva Con Agua de St. Pauli, a organization which engages for drinking water supply in developing countries, will again collect festival cups in the infield , at the Wacken Plaza and Wacken Center. The income from this deposit will also be shared between Viva Con Aqua and us.

 

In order to minimize injury risk, glass bottles are forbidden on the whole festival site! But there is a service being offered where you can decant your glass bottle content into a fancy PET-bottle. This can be done at the supermarkets on the visitor road.

 

An overdimensional beer can can again be visited in the Wacken Foundation Camp (Pos. # 27). It is the sleeping can – a prototype which soon could be your sleeping booth on festivals. The can has a bedroom and a lounge and could be equipped with solar battery panels, which provides you with light and power, so you can be fully independent from the power supply.

 

So do your little part to help us protecting the environment!

W:O:ART 2015

At this year’s W:O:Art tent, which is located in the Wacken Foundation Camp you will find the art exhibition and many great join-in activities. The Musikschulenverband Schleswig-Holstein (music school association) will offer their drum contest “feet of hell” again. Besides that they will inform you about the Wacken Music Camp which took place for the first time last year. The Wacken Foundation is funding this project. The music camp will take place again after the festival in the Wacken Open Air production area.

The supported band Trailer Park Sex will show you how to print t-shirts in order to produce your merchandise yourself. Directly nearby you can have fun with action painting and allow yourself full bent. This campaign was initiated by “Triebwerk” of the Akademie für Gesundheits- und Sozialberufe (academy for health and social professions). The action painting pictures painted at last year’s festival, can be bought this year at the booth directly. The income will be split in half between “Triebwerk” and the Wacken Foundation. Kim Schmidt the famous comic artist is also participating in the action painting. He will of course also exhibit his popular comics about the Wacken Open Air.

Jens Rusch will once again exhibit his art and Michaela Lang, a master painter from Saarland, will show her complementary work about the Wacken Open Air for the first time. The heavy metal photographer Sven Ellenbrock displays his Wacken Open Air-related pictures from the project called “The Pit” for the first time. And at the booth of Sport Tiedje you can show your rowing skills in the rowing contest!

The Slovenian artist Sebastjan Serement will present his new artwork! It was painted especially for the Wacken Open Air! After the festival it will be auctioned to benefit hard rock- and heavy metal-bands.

As an artistic highlight this year we will present a miniature stage of the Wacken Open Air. It was built by the participants of the Activcenter of the Grone-Schulen Niedersachsen GmbH from Lower Saxony. It is a school that is integrating long-term unemployed persons into the employment market. The miniature stage will be auctioned after the festival to fund the Wacken Foundation in order to support metal!

Furthermore there will be some Artworks done by Ole Ohlendorff. This time the dead and the living Rock and Metal legends will be painted in a new livery as Fine Art Prints on aluminum plates – that’s real metal! And finally, at Wacken Kaffee bar you will be able to get your little caffeine-boost.

Be there! Like last year the W:O:Art tent and the Wacken Foundation Camp will be at the position #27, directly next to the beer garden!

WACKEN FOUNDATION CAMP 2015

Located directly besides the beergarden the Wacken Foundation Camp (Position # 27) again invites you to come around at the W:O:A 2015. This year we have a big Wacken Foundation information tent in the middle of the camp where we inform you about the foundation, our aims and projects. We also offer our Wacken Foundation Supporters und Sports Collection and you can take part in different activities like goal scoring and raffles. With the revenues new and upcoming metal bands will be supported. Also the Full:Metal:Army, a registered non-profit association and the official fan club of the W:O:A, will here inform the interested fans and members of the club about their work and answer all your questions. Besides that the company Killnoise, is here offering their high-end ear-plugs.

In the cozy Wacken Foundation tents next door you can sit and relax. Fronatur and Janny’s Ice Cream are offering chilling frozen yoghurt and ice cream, plus you can enjoy a delicious cup of coffee at the Wacken Kaffee located in the W:O:Art tent.

Again the German bone marrow donation database will be present in our camp, taking saliva samples and testing people for possible bone marrow donation compatibility. Feel free to participate; your donation may save a life.

Close to our camp the pole sitting will take place again and it is already fully booked out for this year. For every hour that the participants stay on the pole, a company will donate money to us. As sponsors Schecter Guitar Research and Marshall Amplification are already confirmed. One of the five poles is reserved for our guests who spontaneously would like to climb the pole and take a picture or simply shortly enjoy the Infield view. For a little donation you can watch the festival from above.

Together with Viva con Agua we organize again a beverage container deposit collection. The volunteers from Viva con Agua collect the festival cups in the Infield while our volunteers collect the beverage containers on the campgrounds. The benefit of the deposit will be split in a half between the two organizations.

In cooperation with the Kochschule Pinneberg (cooking school) and Küchen Kate we will offer survival cooking courses again this year. Every day at 11:00 am and 5:30 pm it will be shown which food you can easily cook on festivalsg. Besides that we are offering star cooking courses at 3:30 pm on Thursday with Henning from German rock’n rollers Kärbholz, on Friday with Jörn from the thrash metallers Torment and on Sunday with the German rockers Stoneman. The income of the cooking courses which will be generated through participation fees, will benefit the Wacken Foundation.

At the booth of Gütezeichen SH of the chamber of agriculture Schleswig Holzstein warm potatoes and Matjes (herring) are being offered – the northern German style.

The Tag Company will be on-site with a huge Hummer H1. Here you can get dog tags with an engraving of your choice and the matching W:O:A-badge. You can also let the company Woodcardz print your personal photo on a wooden postcard – the prices include shipping. The non-profit organizations Skate-Aid and Sea Shepherd will inform you in about their aid programs.

At the Moshpital provided by the health insurance Barmer GEK you can get your back and neck massaged for a small donation of € 2!

Jugend Gegen Aids (Youth against Aids) will inform about sexually transmitted infections and explain their exciting projects. Besides that the condoms in this year’s Full : Metal : Bags were produced in collaboration with them.

The drug-counseling service Partyprojekt Odyssee will inform you about the danger of drug use in their cozy seating accommodations, where you also can pause for breath.

Furthermore you can find the stand of Full Metal Mountain in the Wacken Foundation Camp. There are still a few free rooms available, so you maybe be able to book your heavy metal winter holiday directly at the W:O:A.

A METAL-SHIRT FOR YOUNG METAL BANDS

Metal makes it possible! Six companies are working together to support newcomer hard rock and metal bands. The new Wacken Foundation shirt is a result of this unique collaboration.

Wacken, 1st July 2015 – Many times the metal community proved how close it gets together in order to do something good. The new Wacken Foundation t-shirt is a good proof for that. It all began with a sketch by the British Artist Paul Raymond Gregory. Who became famous for designing artworks for such legends as Uriah Heep, DIO, Saxon and Motörhead. „We know Paul Raymond Gregory for years and we’ve already had a t-shirt collaboration with him back in 2013. But it is the first time that we get so many other non-metal companies involved in that project. This fact makes us proud.” – stated Lara Wilke from the Wacken Foundation

Besides us and Paul Gregory the company Dickies is taking part in the project. They sponsored 400 black T-Shirts. The Company Tank Shirts from Hohn in Schleswig-Holstein took care of the printing – which they also sponsored. Furthermore the distributor Metaltix renounced the sales commission and the shipping will be handled by the Stiftung Mensch from Heide. Therefore all benefits of the new Wacken Foundation-Shirts are % 100 for the good cause.

The registration period for the last Star-Cooking starts. From today, 25th June 2015 at 6 pm to Friday, 26th June at 6 pm you can bid for a participation place for the cooking course with Rico and Mikki from Stoneman. The revenues go to the Wacken Foundation.

 

In order to participate in the Star-Cooking course it is necessary, that you own a valid W:O:A 2015 ticket.

 

Mikki and Rico will prepare a Swiss Cheese Fondue with five of you on Saturday, 01st August at 3 pm. Afterwards you will all enjoy the Cheese Fondue together.

 

For joining the cooking course you have to do the following:

SURVIVAL COOKING COURSES 2015

For the 26th W:O:A you again receive the chance to register for the popular survival cooking courses of the cooking school Pinneberg and to learn how to prepare a delicious dish at festivals without a lot effort and equipment.

 

Küchen Kate Fenske from Pinneberg will equip the cooking tent with all that is needed for the courses and additionally they also sponsor all ingredients!

 

The survival cooking courses take place twice a day from Wednesday, 29th July until and including Saturday, 01st August 2015 at 11 am and 5:30 pm in the Wacken Foudnation Camp (Pos. # 27). The participation fee is € 20 and will completely benefit the Wacken Foundation and consequently support young metal bands.

The first festival of the Wacken Foundation festival tour 2015 was once again the legendary Rock Hard Festival! The spot for our booth was perfectly located between the entrance to the camping ground and the entrance to the infield. In that way we were visible for every festival visitor.

 

We had our wheel of fortune with us and everyone could take part in the game for a donation to the Wacken Foundation. There were no rivets and therefore many participants tried their luck more than one time during the Rock Hard Festival. In total we received more than € 1,100 donations for the support of hard rock and metal bands and artists. Thanks a lot to all the donors at the Rock Hard Festival, you’re supporting Metal! And a big thanks to the supported band Sic Zone. They gave us a bit from their merchandise as prices for our wheel of fortune.

 

And also big thanks to the promoters and the crew of the Rock Hard Festival. We had a great time and we are looking forward to next year!

The Recording Rock/Metal Music and Production Masterclass Workshop

 

Lately the Wacken Foundation supported a new kind of project. Redouane Aouameur from the Algerian death metal band Lelahell applied for financial support at the Wacken Foundation to take part in a workshop run by Wojtek Wiesławski and Sławek Wiesławski who are sound engineers and producers (Behemoth, Decapitated, Hate, Vader). Our managing board accepted Redouane's application and we took over the costs for the workshop.

 

Here is a small report from Redouane about his experience during the workshop, and maybe it is also an inducement for other bands to take part in such workshops: 

 

 

"We spent nine days in The Famous Hertz Studio in Bialystok city , the capital of Podlaskie Voivodeship , which is the biggest city in the north east of Poland! The first day of the course was about preparing drums for recording which was really impressive because they spent so much  time to stretch and tune the drum heads to get the sound!

 

The next two days the course featured special guests : Daray (Vesania, Vader, Hunter, Dimmu Borgir) at the drums and Vogg (Decapitated, Vader, Mux Occulta) playing guitars! Two amazing professional musicians who talked about  their gear and techniques and why they are using them for recording their music. After that we made microphones and preamps tests on vocals and guitars and made comparisons between them. And we received very good tips about drum editing, midi drums and phase alignement.

 

The sixth day was about bass and vocal recordings with a very talented young singer. On the seventh and eighth day we learned a lot about mixing, and they showed us how to start a mix from the beginning to the final result.

 

The last day was about the mastering, and we learned the secrets of Hertz Studio mastering sound!

 

The experience In Hertz studio  allowed me to improve my mixing and production techniques, and I am very grateful for that. Thank you guys! And thanks to the Wacken Foundation for helping me to get the financement for this amazing experience!"

Registration for POLESITTING 2015

Do you want to get a place on one of the poles of the popular pole-sitting contest at the 26. W:O:A? From now on you can register for it!

 

Just write an email to polesitting@wacken.com. Please mention your complete name, your W:O:A ticket number, as well as time and day you would like to join the contest. We try to satisfy your wishes as good as we can. The pole-sitting times will be from Wednesday, 29th July to Saturday 1st August  from 10.00 h–16.00 h and 16.30 h–22.30 h. We have 32 participation places and the first 32 emails will be taken into account for registration.


Rules:
You have to sustain for 6 hours on one of the poles to win a VIP upgrade. Except for 10 minutes every 2 hours, the seat may not be left. You can enjoy the festival in a height of 2.5 meters, lean back and let your eyes wander over the festival, while the bands are playing on the Black, True and Party stage.

Donations:
Different companies will take over sponsorships for the poles. For every hour you sustain on the pole they are donating € 10 to the Wacken Foundation. At the festival you are invited to visit the Wacken Foundation Camp in direct proximity to the pole-sitting. Here you can take part in the activities or as an artist you can inform yourself about the Wacken Foundation and how they could support you.  

 

We will reserve one pole for people who would like to take a picture or shortly enjoy the view. For a little donation you can climb one of the poles! (for this you do not need to register, just come along!)

RACE BETWEEN THE SEAS 2015

On Saturday, 30th May 2015 for the first time a team of the Wacken Foundation will take part in the 9th Race between the seas (Lauf zwischen den Meeren). 700 teams take part in the relay race across the federal state Schleswig-Hostein from the Noth Sea to the Baltic Sea. The race starts at 9:00 am in Husum. After 10 sections and 95.5 kilometers the teams will reach the final destination at the beach in Damp at the Baltic Sea.

 

The Wacken Foundation team consists of 10 team members and each of them will run one section. Besides employees of the promoter of the Wacken Open Air, also people involved in the Wacken Foundation like for example managing board Manfred Lack, who often jogs in his leisure time, will run for the Wacken Foundation team.

 

The W:O:A promoter ICS Festival Service GmbH sponsored the entry fee for participation at the race between the seas. They are wishing all participants a lot of fun and the whole team every success. “Primarily this is all not about winning but about everyone giving his best for the whole team and about having fun and enjoying the relay race” stated W:O:A promoter Thomas Jensen. Marcus Haase, who runs the fourth section, added with a wink: “Ideally we will all arrive the home stretch in Damp after 10 hours safe and sound.” Beside the fun the team members also do not lack the necessary motivation. Runner Stefan Schulze from ICS Festival Service GmbH practices once a week since he knew that he will be taking part in the race. Thomas Kreidner from Seaside Touring and Marcus Haase have already practiced as well. They took part in a race in their home town on 15 February 2015.

 

The Wacken Foundation of course hopes for numerous fans who can cheer and encourage the runners. With the Wacken Foundation jerseys from our online shop the team will be wearing, you can easily recognize them.

WACKEN FOUNDATION-FESTIVAL-TOUR 2015

9 FESTIVALS - 3 COUNTRIES - 7.656 KILOMETERS

 

It is time agian. The festival tour of the Wacken Foundation is about to start - for the third time. From end of May we will be travelling to nine festivals in Switzerland, Great Britain and Germany in order to spread the Wacken Foundation’s purpose.

 

Our tour starts on the Whit weekend with the Rock Hard Festival in the amphitheatre in Gelsenkirchen.Our booth will be placed next to the entrance to the camping ground. Here, and also at the other eight festivals, you turn our wheel of fortune and win great prices. The income will be used to support hard rock and heavy metal bands. Furthermore we will bring our mobile phone charging station from THE ELECTRIC HOTEL. Here you can pedal on our W:O:A bike, generate power and in this way load your mobile phone. On some festivals we also present a selection of our merchandise collection. Approximately 30 % of the income of the merchandise is benefitting the foundation. Here you can get a foretaste of what our merchandise collection has to offer.

 

Beside the Rock Hard Festival we will also be present at the following festivals:

Auction of a W:O:A Metal Corsage

This unique corsage in W:O:A-look has been produced by metal artist Ingo Roeder. As a diehard metal fan Ingo donated the corsage to the Wacken Foundation to support young hard rock and heavy metal bands. All the income of the auction goes to the non-profit foundation.

 

Originally he designed the corsage for his girlfriend who is an enthusiastic Wacken guest since 25 years. With loving attention to detail he heated up every piece of metal and adjusted them to her body. The model on the pictures wears t-shirt size medium, cup size C and underbust measurement 80. The corsage can also be formed into another size when the metal bars are being heated up. On top we put the matching silver ring with Wacken-skull.

WE LOVE YOUganda - Viva con Agua festival project trip 2015

Since some years the Wacken Foundation cooperates with the water initiative Viva con Agua (VcA) at the Wacken Open Air. VcA volunteers collect festival cups and volunteers of the Wacken Foundation pick up bottles and cans at the camp ground. The income is being shared between both non-profit organizations.

 

From 20/02 until 01/03/15 we travel to Uganda with VcA and a mixed group of artists and people involved in the festival scene. On-site we can have a look at what projects VcA can implement with the help of the revenues from deposits. A part of the journey is for example a visit of the water project in Lira. Here the project included the provision of water through water wells or rainwater tanks as well training courses about hygiene, maintenance and repair works.

 

There will also be no lack of art and music during the project trip. In the course of first Viva con Agua Uganda-Festival in Kampala, international artists will design a wall of the National Theatre. The whole travel group will also help to organize the final concert of the festival on 28/02/15.

 

A big thanks to VcA for the invitation to this exciting trip – we are very happy to be a part of this great journey!

Auctioned myBoo bamboo bikes

At the beginning of September and in December 2014 we sold two bamboo bikes in W:O:A-design from myBoo by auction. Through both auctions we raised almost € 3,000 in total. Hal of the money goes to the long-term partner of myBoo, the Yonso Project in Ghana. Through this non-profit organization the educational system and with that the lives of the people is being improved.

 

We say thank you to both winners of the auctions and a big thank you to myBoo for the great cooperation!

MyBoo Bamboo bike with W:O:A branding

This signed my Boo bamboo bike with Wacken branding is now being auctioned in favour of the Wacken Foundation and the Yonso project in Ghana. The auction starts on Thursday, 4th December 2014 at 6 pm and will be online for 10 days. Here is the link to the auction.

The bike has a 55 frame and 28 inch tyres. It links the unique flair of the Wacken Open Air with the awesome technical features of my Boo bamboo bikes. The special spraying was made in Germany for the unique look. There are different highlights included like a rear mirror and chrome-mudguards.The original price of the bike is 2,350 €.

Auction: HOHNER Guitar signed by Blaas of Glory at the W:O:A 2013

This Essential Pro Folk EP1-SF guitar has been made available to the Wacken Foundation by the band Blaas of Glory. The band members have signed the guitar on the back side and now the guitar is being auctioned in favour of hard rock and heavy metal bands. The auction started on Sunday, 30th November 2014 at 6pm and will last for one week.

The EP1-SF is a typical folk/western guitar with a full 650 mm scale, a top made of Norway spruce and back and sides are made of mahogany. The body has been covered with a wafer-thin layer of matt varnish. The rosewood fingerboard has 20 frets.

Further features of the guitar can be found in the auction on eBay. So you still need a matching Christmas present for yourself or somebody else? Just follow the link and place your bid and do something good for the metal scene.

Festival Tour 2014

Auction of the W:O:A Action Painting Pictures "Boot" and "Elsa"

At the W:O:A 2014 the AGS (Academy for Health and Social Professions) offered “Actionpainting” within the profession initiative “Tiebwerk” in the W:O:Arts tent in the Wacken Foundation Camp. Guests of the W:O:A could give free rein to their creativity and create their own artwork. The last few weeks all the paintings have been exhibited in Itzehoe during the intercultural week. Now the artworks will be auctioned in favour of the initiative “Triebwerk” and the Wacken Foundation.

 

The first two paintings will be auctioned via two parallel auctions on eBay from this Tuesday, 15th October 2014, approx. 6:00 pm. The auctions will be online for five days until Sunday, 19th October 2014, approx. 6:00 pm.

 

The first painting is named “boot” and has been painted by Maren from Hamburg. It is sized approx. 60 cm x 60 cm and has been painted with oilpen on hard fiber and it also has a screen printed Wacken Foundation logo. The second picture is called “Elsa” and has been painted by Simon from England. It is also sized approx. 60 cm x 60 cm and has been painted with acryl on hard fiber.

The W:O:A Caravan changed hands in Wacken

The Hobby Caravan in black Wacken-design has been handed over last Friday to the lucky winner of the aution, Gerd Schlottmann. During the festivities on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Wacken Open Air the keys of the caravans have been handed over to the new owner by the Wacken Foundation.

With the matt black foil and the striking Wacken design the Hobby caravan Premium 560 CFe was located at the premises of the ICS Festival Service GmbH – in front of it the new owner. The aution on eBay lasted 10 days. On 7th September at 6:07 pm the aution ended with 36.500 €. The caravan has been handed over to the winner in Saturday in Wacken by festival organizer Holger Hübner and Lara Wilke, representative of the Wacken Foundation.

For three months apprentices of Hobby have worked on this exceptional project and incorporated their own ideas. As on the outside the Wacken logo is present inside the caravan as well. The interior is equipped with a flatscreen TV, a high quality music system, an air conditioning and a draught beer dispenser. All this makes the caravan perfect for a festival visit. Additionally artists like Tom Angelripper from Sodom, Mikkey Dee and Bülent Ceylan have signed the door of the refrigerator.

The income through the Hobby Caravan goes to the Wacken Foundation to support young metal bands and artists. The Wacken Foundation would like to thank Hobby for this great caravan and of course the highest bidder and his family. We wish him and his family a lot of fun with this W:O:A Hobby caravan!

Guitar Raffle Hamburg Metal Dayz

Hobby Caravan im W:O:A Design

This Caravan in W:O:A design has been provided by the Hobby-Wohnwagenwerk to the Wacken Foundation. Now it will be auctioned for a good cause. The proceeds will be used to support young Metal and Hard-Rock Bands. The auction starts Thursday, 28th August 2014 at 6:07pm for 10 days and will end on Sunday, 7th September 2014 at 6:07pm.

The Hobby Caravan Premium 560 CFe has been newly designed with matt black foil and white and prominent Wacken branding and became the special model Hobby Caravan Premium 560 WOA. Trainees of the Hobby training workshop worked for three months on this special project and developed most of the features of the interior design on their own. The living area is now equipped with a comfortable corner sofa, a huge flatscreen and a powerful sound system. LED-illumination, the cool E-guitar with the decent illuminated strings, a Playstation, an air conditioner and an onboard beer pump for your draught beer, complete the W:O:A design of the Caravan. Additionally the refrigerator door of the caravan was signed by several artists during the Wacken Open Air, e.g. by Tom Angelripper from Sodom/Onkel Tom, Mikkey Dee from Motörhead and Bülent Ceylan (german comedian).

The price of the Hobby Caravan Premium 560 CFe ex factory is € 23.420. Because of the additional equipment of the WOA- model, the value of the Caravan is approximately €30.000.

The vehicle is a new, non-registered vehicle with signs of use. The statutory warranty period for the vehicle is 2 years. Excluded from the warranty is the vehicle foliation. Furthermore there is a five-year-guarantee for tightness. This is only valid if there is a yearly inspection of the caravan at an authorized professional retailer (recorded in a service book).

The caravan is currently at the fair „Caravan Salon Düsseldorf“. It can be picked up in Wacken starting from calender week 38. Please get in touch with us to arrange a day and time for collection.

my Boo bamboo bikes with Wacken branding

This signed My Boo bamboo bike with Wacken branding is now being auctioned in favour of the Wacken Foundation and the Yonso project in Ghana. The auction starts on Sunday, 24th August 2014 at 6 pm and will be online for one week. Here is the link to the auction .

This bike links the unique flair of the Wacken Open Air with the awesome technical features of my Boo bamboo bikes. The special spraying was made in Germany for the unique look. There are different highlights included like a rear mirror and chrome-mudguards.The recommended retail price is € 2350.

Crowdfunding project by HARPYIE

HARPYIE, a band which we already supported in 2013, started a crowdfunding project for their third album. If they are above the break even point, they will benefit the Wacken Foundation with 5%.


In cooperation with the music producer Simon Michael, drummer from Subway To Sally, they want to record the album. They want to release it in the beginning of 2015.


To finance the production, HARPYIE decided to do a crowdfunding campaign, which started last friday, 15th august. The supporter can change a donation to exclusive gifts from HARPYIE like CDs, T-shirts and of course the new CD with a personal thanksgiving in the booklet.

 

HARYPIE want to collect the required EUR 10,000 within two months. If they reach their aim, the supporters will receive their gifts. If they do not reach it, they all will get their money back. And if they reach more than EUR 10,000, HARPYIE will benefit the Wacken Foundation with 5 %. The Wacken Foundation will support hardrock and heavy metal bands with the donation.

Lemmy on Canvas

This artwork “Lemmy on Canvas” by Andreas Ole Ohlendorff is handsigned by artists of the W:O:A 2014. It is a fine art print on canvas (100cm x 140 cm) and has been reworked by Ohlendorff with structure paste, collage and gold bronze. Now it is being auctioned in favour of the Wacken Foundation. The income will benefit young metal and hard rock bands.

Wacken Foundation Camp 2014

Once again this year you could visited the Wacken Foundation Camp at the W:O:A 2014. Our camp was well-visited and the projects, for example goal scoring, polesitting, wheel of fortune and many other projects were well received with active participation. Because we had many information booths from different kinds of organsations and companies, the camp offered a lot of variety.

We had a great time at the W:O:A and it has been a succesful festival for us. We hope, that you also had a lot of fun!

The Wall of Wacken move to another location!

 

The new location of the Wall of Wacken is near the passage from Wackinger Village to Wacken Plaza. There you can see all stones of the wall. You can find the Wacken-Wall information booth at the Wacken Foundation Camp (#27). There you can receive information concercing the moving of the Wall of Wacken and you can also purchase a stone to be a part of the Wall of Wacken. my Boo - Bamboo Bikes in Wacken style!

 

For the W:O:A 2014 we have a great cooperation with my Boo-Bamboo Bikes. The bikes are handmade in Ghana by the social “Yonso Project”. Now the Bamboo bikes with W:O:A design can be purchased under the following link.  10 % of each purchase goes to the Wacken Foundation.

WACKEN FOUNDATION CAMP 2014

At the 25. Wacken Open Air there will again be the Wacken Foundation Camp with many well-known activities and new exciting projects.  

This year we will have our information booth in a big container. Here we inform you about the foundation, their aims and projects. We also offer you our Wacken Foundation Supporters und Sports Collection and you can take part in different activities like goal scoring and raffles. With the revenues we support new and upcoming metal bands. Furthermore, you can order one of the famous stones for the Wacken Wall from the company Treu. In our cozy Wacken Foundation tents next door you can sit and relax with a cup of coffee. The Full:Metal:Army, a registered non-profit association and the official fan club of the W:O:A, is also located in our container and answers every question of interested fans and members.

Close to the Wacken Foundation Camp the pole sitting will take place, which is already fully booked for this year. Every hour that the participants stay on one of the poles, companies give a donation to the foundation. Additionally one pole is reserved for guests who would like to take a picture or shortly enjoy the view. For a little donation you can climb the pole watch the spectacle from above.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the W:O:A there will be a history exhibition compiled by Tim Eckhorst in the W:O:Arts tent. It will show the history of the W:O:A with pictures from 1990 until today. The Musikschulenverband Schleswig-Holstein (music school association of Schleswig-Holstein) and Sport Tiedje offer you to take part in their activities, Sport Tiedje for example will organize a kettlebell-challenge and the band Trailer Park Sex shows you how to print your shirts yourself by silk screen procedure. Many well-known artists, but also new artists will exhibit their artworks in the W:O:Art tent. While enjoying the artworks you can stop for a coffee at the Wacken Coffee Bar.

Together with Viva con Agua we organize again a beverage container deposit collection. The volunteers from Viva con Agua collect the festival cups in the Infield while the volunteers from the Wacken Foundation collect the beverage containers on the campgrounds. The benefit of the deposit will be split fifty-fifty between the two organizations.

Something new in the Wacken Foundation Camp is the cooking course tent. In cooperation with Kochschule Pinneberg (cooking school) and Küchen Kate we offer survival cooking courses. The participants will learn, what they can cook on a camping stove beside canned ravioli. Furthermore, there will be one star cooking course every day, at which different organizer or musicians will cook their favorite dish together with the participants. The income of the cooking courses through participation fees will benefit the Wacken Foundation.

Also new is the cooperation with the start-up company from Kiel: My Boo GmbH. My Boo produces socially and environmentally sustainable bamboo-bikes. Two of their bikes in W:O:A design have been made available to the Wacken Foundation for their mobile charging station from The Electric Hotel. You can charge your mobile phone here with your own muscle power. Two more bikes will be signed by artists and subsequently be auctioned. The revenues from the auction are 50% for the Wacken Foundation and 50% for the Yonso-project from My Boo in Ghana.

Tim Mälzer and his PZA Restaurant will be in the Wacken Foundation Camp again. There you can eat ovenfresh pizza in the special Mälzer-style. At the icecream booth from Janny's Eis you can refresh yourself with a tasty icecream and at the booth of the Landwirtschaftskammer Schleswig-Holstein (Chamber of Agriculture of Schleswig-Holstein) the Landfrauen Wacken offer regional products. The hospital Itzehoe informs about blood donation. You can also get yourself registered in the German Bone Marrow Donor Centre (DKMS). Also Skate Aid, Jugend gegen Aids (youth against aids) and Sea Shepherd will inform you about their work.

The Tag Company will be on-site with a huge Hummer H1. They will mint dog tags with an engraving of your choice. In the Wacken Foundation Camp you can also see a "Wacken Camper" von Hobby with W:O:A branding and a Fendt show tractor. Parts of the tractor will be signed from artists while the festival. These parts and the "Wacken Camper" will be auctioned afterwards in favor of the Wacken Foundation.

Metal Jam

With support from the Wacken Foundation "Metal Jam" will take place at 10th October in Cologne for the first time. The aim of this event is to provide a possibility for musicians in every age to perform in front of an interested audience. The focus will also be on the support and development of musicians and the contact to other musicians.

 

We like the idea of the event and we hope, that many of you are interested and save the date.

Star-Cooking with Fabian from The New Black

Tomorrow starts the next participation process for the Star-Cooking. From tomorrow, 25th June 2014 6 pm to Thursday, 26th June 2014 6 pm you can bid for a participation place for the cooking course with Fabian Schwarz from The New Black. The revenues from the auction benefit the Wacken Foundation, who supports rock and metal bands.

 

In order to participate on the Star-Cooking course it is necessary, that you own a valid W:O:A 2014 ticket.

 

The cooking course with Fabian will take place on Friday, 1st August at 3 pm with five participants. Together with him you will cook and enjoy vegan chicken wings.

 

For joining the cooking course you have to do the following: 

 

- Send an e-mail in the time period above with your bid (in €), your name and the 5-digit number of your W:O:A ticket to starcooking@wacken.com. We can only accept submissions which we get within the time period.

- The five highest bidders will receive a confirmation mail with the bank account details from the Wacken Foundation. Then you get one week to transfer the money. If there is no receipt of money within one week, the next highest bidder gets the chance.

Polesitting at W:O:A 2014

The legendary W:O:A pole-sitting contest goes into the next round! The ones who stay the longest time on a pole will receive a W:O:A VIP-Upgrade.

Rules:
You have to sustain for 6 hours on one of the poles. Except for 10 minutes every 2 hours, the seat may not be left. You can enjoy the festival in a height of 2.5 meters, lean back and let your eyes wander over the festival, while the bands are playing on the Black, True and Party stage.

Donations:
Like in the last years companies will take over sponsorships for the poles. For every hour you sustain on the pole they are donating € 10 to the Wacken Foundation. The foundation is a non-profit foundation which dedicates itself to the support of heavy metal music. At the festival you are invited to visit the Wacken Foundation Camp in direct proximity to the pole-sitting. Here you can ask questions about the foundation’s work, take part in the activities or as an artist you can inform yourself about the Wacken Foundation and how they could support you.  

 

Again, we will have one pole for people who would like to take a picture or shortly enjoy the view. For a little donation you can climb one of the poles! (for this you do not need to register, just come along!)


If you would like to get a place on one of the poles just write an email to polesitting@wacken.com! Please mention your complete name, your W:O:A ticket number, as well as time and day you would like to join the contest. We try to satisfy your wishes as good as we can.

The pole-sitting times will be from Wednesday to Saturday; 10.00 h – 16.00 h and 16.30 h – 22.30 h.

The application process for the Star-Cooking courses goes into the next round. Until today, 18th June 2014 6 pm you can bid for a participation place for the cooking course with Tom Angelripper ("Onkel Tom"/"Sodom"). The revenues from the auction benefit the Wacken Foundation, who supports rock and metal bands.

 

In order to participate on the Star-Cooking course it is necessary, that you own a valid W:O:A 2014 ticket.

 

The cooking course with Tom Angelripper will take place on Wednesday, 30th July at 3 pm with five participants. Together with him you will cook and enjoy a typical German dish.

 

For joining the cooking course you have to do the following: 

 

- Send an e-mail in the time period above with your bid (in €), your name and the 5-digit number of your W:O:A ticket to starcooking@wacken.com. We can only accept submissions which we get within the time period.

Cooking Courses at the W:O:A 2014

Dear Metalheadz,

This year you have the possibility to take part in cooking courses in the Wacken Foundation Camp. For this the kitchen company “Küchen Kate Pinneberg” will equip a tent with all necessary kitchen furniture and kitchenware. There will be two different kinds of cooking courses: 1) Survival Cooking and 2) Star Cooking.

1) During the Survival Cooking the chefs of the cooking school in Pinneberg Stephan Boris (Ex-Running Wild bass player) and Lars Ginsberg will show 5 participants at each course how to cook something better than Ravioli from a tin at festivals with only little resources. The Survival Cooking will take place from, Wednesday 30th July to Saturday, 2nd August 2014 at 11 am and 5:30 pm every day. The participation costs € 15.

It is only possible to register for the cooking courses, if you own a valid W:O:A 2014 ticket.

You can register yourself for the Survival Cooking from today on by sending an email to survivalcooking@wacken.com. Your registration email has to contain the following information

- Your complete name

- Your date of birth

- Your telephone number

- The 5-digits number of your W:O:A 2014 ticket

 

Please note that you can only register one person per email. The first 40 registrations that arrive us will be taken into consideration and if you will receive a confirmation email with all further information.

 

2) The Star Cooking is actually a different Meet & Greet. It will take place from Wednesday to Saturday at 3 pm every day. Here 5 participants  can cook with an artist/organizer of the W:O:A. The places for participation will be auctioned beforehand. More information about which artists will cook with you and how you can snatch a place will be published in the end of May 2014.

Stefan succeeded!

After training for one and a half year Stefan wanted to prove himself - and he did it succesfully! At 27th April he ran the TUI Marathon in Hannover and collected donations at the same time for his second passion: Heavy Metal. Through the platform "helpedia" he searched for donators and collected 455,00€ for the Wacken Foundation. The Foundation has taken the task of helping young newcomer bands in the heavy metal scene, for example when they need financial support for a CD production or a tour support.

 

We congratulate Stefan for his success at the marathon and want to say thank you for the great support! See you at W:O:A 2014!

Wacken-jam from Glashoffs

We are happy to announce that we found a new supporter of the Wacken Foundation: The Glasshoff Marmeladen Manufaktur from Nordfriesland produces and sells Wacken-jam in favour of the Wacken Foundation. From every sold jar 20 cents are for the Wacken Foundation. With their help we can continue to support young metalbands and artists.

Cooperation with My Boo

 

Yesterday, the young entrepreneurs Maximilian and Jonas from my Boo celebrated their Sales Kick off and we were there! One of their sustainably produced bamboobicycles was presented with the W:O:A/Wacken Foundation Design. We are happy to cooperate with them and we wish them a great start into self-employment. Auction: Backdrop from Grave Digger

To support the work of the Wacken Foundation, Grave Digger donated us their backdrop with the cover artwork of their album "Liberty or Death". The backdrop measures 6,93 x 4,46meters. On ebay it is now being auctioned. The auction started on Saturday, 5th April 2014 and will end Saturday, 12. April 2014 at 6 pm. The link to the auction can be found here.

 

The income will benefit the Wacken Foundation and bands from the hard rock and heavy metal scene will be supported with the income.

Stefan is running for the Wacken Foundation!

 

Collecting donations in a different way: Stefan Schönebeck is going to join the Hannover Marathon on 27th of April 2014. Since one and a half years he is exercising for this day – of course always while listening to metal. That’s why he decided to dedicate the Hannover Marathon to the Wacken Foundation. Now he is looking for supporters, who are willing to donate money for his run with the donation platform “Helpedia”.

W:O:A beach chairs by Stiftung Mensch

The Stiftung Mensch (human foundation) offers some cool roofed wicker beach chairs with W:O:A branding now – and the income will be used for charity!

The beach chairs are produced in two different sizes and offer you the absolutely full range of extras. They come with features like two footstools and folding tables or handles made of stainless steel and the footstools have a real special feature: Using a smart mechanism, they can be lifted up to the level of the seats to create a lying surface!

The version W:O:A Bullhead is a classic two seater and the smaller one. W:O:A True Metal is a huge two and a half seater with a width of 150cm!

The Bullhead version is available for 2600€, True Metal costs 3000€ (both plus shipping costs). In addition, you can buy a slip cover for 189€. Because of the size and the weight, the delivery has to be done by an express company. The costs will be calculated individual for each address.

The sale is completely handled by the Stiftung Mensch which also gets the whole purchase price. 10% of the net price will be donated for the Wacken Foundation.
